Amtrak to launch new Raleigh-Charlotte train

Mike Easley, “As fuel prices continue to climb, more and more people are turning to rail as their choice for transportation.” This has prompting the state to add a third Amtrak passenger train to its service between Raleigh and Charlotte. Fares for the round trip between Charlotte and Raleigh start at $50. The estimated $3 million needed to operate the new route will come from the federal government, Easley’s office says.
